Send text messages and WhatsApp messages through your own Twilio account.
Messages are sent through Twilio, so you need a Twilio account first. Everything else is under System Configuration, then Mobile Messages.

Open Configuration
Open the Configuration tab.

Enter your credentials
Fill in the Account SID and Auth Token from your Twilio console dashboard.

Save
Click Update Configuration.
On the Senders tab, click Add mobile sender. Give it a Unique name, enter the Sender phone you have in Twilio, and tick the providers it can use: Whatsapp, Message (SMS), or both.
Open a sender with Edit to change its name, phone or providers, or use Deactivate to stop using it.

Add it
On the Templates tab, click Add template and enter a Unique name.

Choose providers
Tick Whatsapp, Message or both.

For WhatsApp
Enter the Twillio Id of the WhatsApp template you created in Twilio.

For SMS
Write the SMS template text.
Open the template with Edit to change it later, and use its Variables tab to add variables. In the SMS text, write a variable's name wrapped in double curly braces where the value should go.
If a template uses both providers, the SMS text should use the same parameters as the WhatsApp template in Twilio. For WhatsApp, the values are passed to Twilio in the order of your parameters.

Pick recipients
Go to Users and leads, then Users, and select the people to message.

Open the sender
Click Send as SysAdmin mobile message.

Set it up
Choose the Message Type (SMS or WhatsApp), a Sender and a Template.

Fill the variables
Under Template Parameters, map each variable to a user property or a custom value.

Send or schedule
Tick Schedule for later if needed, then click Send mobile message.
Each template's row on the Templates tab shows how many times it was sent.
