Users and accounts

User tags

User tags are labels you put on users and leads, such as Customer, VIP or Beta tester. You use them to organise people and to decide what each person can see.

Create a tag

1

Open tags

Go to Users and leads, then Tags.

2

Add one

Click Add tag.

3

Fill it in

Enter a Name, a Tag color and a Tag description, then create it.

The User Tags table shows how many users hold each tag. Use Edit to change a tag, and Deactivate to retire one.

Give tags to people

There are three ways a person can get a tag.

By hand

In Users and leads, then Users, use Add tag on one person, or select several and click Add tag.

With a form

In a form's Form settings, Add tags to users adds tags to whoever completes it.

With a subscription

A subscription can grant a tag while it is active.

Tags that expire

When you add a tag by hand, turn on Tag expires and pick a date under Expires in. The tag is removed at the end of that day.

Expiring tags suit trials and time-limited access, such as a free week in a members area.

What tags control

Menu links: restrict a link to logged in users with certain tags.

Pages: in a page's Security, allow only users with certain tags.

Sections and elements: set Show this section to, or Show this element to, to Users with any of these tags.

The Users table: filter the Tags column to find everyone with a tag.

An expired tag stops counting as soon as it expires, so access tied to it ends at the same time.
