Getting started

Inviting your team

Give teammates their own admin accounts, then decide exactly which screens and actions each of them can use.

Admins and permissions

People who build and run your site are system administrators. Their accounts are separate from the users who sign up on your site, and they sign in at your site's /sysAdmin address.

Everything about admins is in the Manage Sys Admin group of the admin menu: Create Sys Admin adds an account, Manage Sys Admin lists the accounts, and Sys admin permissions controls what each one can do.

Add an admin

1

Open Create Sys Admin

In the admin menu, open Manage Sys Admin and choose Create Sys Admin.

2

Fill in the form

Enter a Username, an Email, a Password and Confirm password.

3

Click Create Sys Admin

The account is created and a welcome email with the sign-in details is sent to the address you entered.

Username

5 to 30 characters, letters and numbers only.

Password

8 to 30 characters, with at least one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, one number and one special character.

Choose what they can access

1

Open Sys admin permissions

In the Manage Sys Admin group, choose Sys admin permissions.

2

Select the administrator

Pick their username from the list.

3

Tick screens and actions

Permissions are grouped like the admin menu. Each screen can have specific actions under it, such as Create Pages or Manage Pages Metadata. Use the search box, Select all or Clear all to move faster.

4

Click Update permissions

The new permissions are saved for that administrator.

If an admin opens a screen they have no permission for, they see a message asking them to contact an administrator. Actions they are not allowed to take are refused.

Manage admin accounts

The System Admins list on the Manage Sys Admin screen shows every account with its status. Deactivate an account to stop that person from signing in, and Activate it to let them back in.

Reset password in an account's row menu starts a password reset for that administrator.

Tips

A few habits keep your admin panel safe as your team grows.

Give each person their own account instead of sharing one, so you can remove access for one person without affecting the others.

Grant only the screens someone needs. A content editor may need Pages but not Functions or Shop.

Deactivate accounts of people who leave the team rather than keeping them active.
