Every field in a form has its own settings: what it asks, how it looks, which answers it accepts and what happens when the answer changes.
You pick the type when you add a field. The General components group of the field picker holds these types.
Text input
A single line of text. Can be shown as a password box.
Text area
Several lines of text.
Number
A number, with optional minimum, maximum and decimals.
Date picker
A single date or a date range.
Select
One or more options from a catalog.
Checkbox
A yes or no answer.
File
One or more uploaded files.
Phone
A phone number with its country code.
Select a field and click Edit. The General part holds the basics.
Label and Description
The question and an optional hint below it.
is required
The form cannot be sent without an answer.
start disabled and start hidden
The field starts locked or out of sight. Change rules can unlock or show it later.
Column sizes
How many of 12 grid columns the field takes on small, medium, large and extra large screens.
Analytics Key
A unique name for the field, such as foodPreference. Change rules, functions and reports use it to find the field.
Once a field has an Analytics Key and answers are coming in, keep the key as it is. Changing it splits your reports.
Custom behaviours and styles holds the settings for each type.
Text: Placeholder, Min length, Max length, Force uppercase, icons on the left or right, and Hide what is typed (password).
Number: Min number, Max number, Thousand separator, Allow decimal, Allow negative and Allow leading zeros.
Date picker: Single date or Range, Default date today, Allow past days and Allow weekends.
Select: Catalog to base, Display style, Max selected values, Allow search and a Default value.
Checkbox: Display style (Checkbox, Switch, Chip or Selectable card) and a Default value.
File: Max files and Limit to certain types.
A password field's answer is never saved with the submission, emailed to admins or shown again. Only the form's function receives it.
The Validations part adds rules an answer must pass before the form can be sent. Text, text area and phone fields support a Regex validation, which checks the answer against a pattern you write.
Other field types have no extra validations. Use their own settings instead, such as Min number and Max number, Min length and Max length, or is required.
On Change Rules react while someone fills the form. Pick when the rule fires, then what it does.
When
On change, On chars reached, On value equal to, On value not equal to, and for numbers On value greater than or On value less than. Checkboxes react to being checked or unchecked.
What
Enable, disable, show, hide, set the value of or clear another field, call a function, or set a page variable.
A rule can only target fields that have an Analytics Key. Give every field you want to control a key first.
